In 2000, Kikkoman Foods, Inc. expanded its Folsom, California facility to keep pace with growing demand in the Western United States. Already producing more than 2.6 million gallons of soy sauce annually at its 100,000-square-foot plant, Kikkoman needed additional warehouse space to store ingredients, finished product, and support its production flow.
Clark Pacific was selected to provide the prefabricated concrete wall system for the expansion. Leveraging the speed, quality, and durability of offsite manufacturing, our team delivered insulated precast panels that provided both the structural performance and long-term protection the facility required.
Scope of Work
-
Prefabricated insulated wall panels manufactured in our controlled facility for consistent quality and finish.
-
Structural connection systems, including miscellaneous metal embeds, clips, and ~70 concrete embeds for integration with the building frame.
-
Plant-applied water repellent to protect against weathering and reduce maintenance needs.
-
Double-line caulking for enhanced joint protection between panels and foundations.
Benefits of Precast for Industrial Expansion
-
Accelerated Schedule – Panels were manufactured offsite while site work progressed, reducing overall construction time.
-
Minimized Disruption – Prefabrication allowed for rapid installation, helping Kikkoman maintain production during the expansion.
-
Durability & Performance – Insulated precast offered superior thermal performance, durability, and resistance to moisture, critical for a food production facility.
By using precast, Kikkoman was able to add capacity without compromising quality or operational efficiency—ensuring the facility could continue to serve customers across the region while preparing for future growth.
