Nestled amongst downtown San Francisco’s most renowned architectural landmarks, preeminent consideration in the design of 199 New Montgomery was given to the continuity of the neighborhood’s urban architectural experience, and in the building’s stately and graceful composure.
199 New Montgomery Street is an urban infill mixed-use development of 167 residential units above street level retail in the heart of San Francisco’s the New Montgomery Street Historic Conservation District.
The 16-story structure stands above four levels of below-grade parking and commands impressive views of the burgeoning South of Market Street skyline and the Bay Bridge beyond. Although the building utilizes contemporary construction techniques, the graceful composure and successful design of 199 New Montgomery is achieved by maintaining the neighborhood’s urban architectural nature.
The creative use of Clark Pacific’s replicated masonry imparts much of the building’s character, as do references to the distinctive belt courses on the historic buildings which line New Montgomery Street.
