Clark Pacific delivered the precast facade for the new Palm Springs Airport Control Tower, a 150-foot-tall structure set on a 7,000-square-foot base building. Using ArchiStructural and exterior insulated panels, the design combined strength, energy efficiency, and speed of construction. Red and gray architectural precast panels were precisely cast with 30-degree returns to achieve the tower’s distinctive radiused shaft, creating a bold presence that complements the desert environment.
The project incorporated several “green” features, including solar panels, energy-efficient insulation, and water-saving technologies, aligning with the airport’s sustainability goals.
Replacing the original 1967 tower, this new facility was designed to meet the needs of a growing airport that serves commercial airlines, corporate aviation, general aviation, and military traffic. Located just two miles east of downtown Palm Springs, the tower’s siting and design support complex arrival and departure routes while accounting for the unique terrain challenges of the Coachella Valley, including nearby San Jacinto Peak.
