Hinarr Hu Moulik, meaning “Our Home” in Soulatuk, the Wiyot language, is Cal Poly Humboldt’s largest student housing development to date. The 964-bed community includes two seven-story buildings with two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, along with study and lounge spaces, a fitness center, market/café and other amenities designed to support student life.
The project significantly expanded Cal Poly Humboldt’s housing capacity while addressing the challenges of delivering a large-scale project in Northern California.
A prefabricated building envelope designed for speed and performance
Working with Sundt Construction, SCB and the broader project team, Clark Pacific delivered the building envelope using our Infinite Facade® system with incorporated glazing.
Through early design-assist collaboration, the team optimized the facade around the project’s design, performance, budget and schedule requirements. Infinite Facade® brought the exterior skin, insulation and glazing together as an integrated prefabricated system, allowing more of the building envelope to be completed in a controlled manufacturing environment before panels arrived on site.
While structural construction progressed in Arcata, Clark Pacific manufactured the facade panels at its Woodland, California facility and incorporated the glazing into the panels prior to delivery. This parallel approach reduced the amount of facade work required on site and allowed enclosure to advance quickly once the structures were ready.
For a project in Arcata’s wet climate, accelerating dry-in was particularly valuable. The prefabricated approach also helped the team address the labor, logistics and site constraints associated with delivering a major housing project on California’s North Coast.
The result is a durable, high-performance building envelope that demonstrates how Infinite Facade® and incorporated glazing can simplify coordination, shift work off site and provide greater schedule certainty.
