Torrey Heights stands as the region’s largest new life science research campus, delivering 442,500 square feet of state-of-the-art space designed for premier innovation. Spanning a 10-acre site, the campus features three advanced research buildings anchored by global medical technology leader BD Biosciences. Beyond its high-performance laboratories, the project offers a full suite of tenant amenities, including a clubhouse, fitness center, gardens, and expansive outdoor gathering spaces.
Clark Pacific played a critical role in the 2023 completion of this hub, providing a comprehensive building envelope solution that met the rigorous aesthetic and technical requirements of the life science sector. By leveraging off-site manufacturing, the project team achieved superior quality and consistency across the campus while streamlining the construction schedule in a highly competitive market.
Facade Project Details
Clark Pacific manufactured and installed a high-performance exterior for Torrey Heights, totaling 225,651 square feet of prefabricated panels. The project utilized a diverse mix of our building systems to achieve its distinct architectural look, including:
-
Architectural Precast Concrete: Providing a durable, high-quality finish for the primary structures.
-
Glass-Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC): Offering a lightweight yet resilient solution for complex design elements.
-
Integrated Building Envelope: We streamlined the installation process by integrating 51,800 square feet of punched windows directly into the panels at our off-site facility.
This integrated approach ensured tight tolerances and a high-performance thermal seal, allowing the campus to meet the demanding energy standards required for modern research and laboratory environments.
